The God We Worship - SON

Where in the world do you begin when it comes to the Son of God - Jesus?

Let me just start by diving straight into Scripture in order to introduce who this Jesus is:

The Word Became Flesh

John 1:1-5, 9-14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

THIS is the Jesus we worship.

As you grow closer to Jesus and grow in your understanding of who He is, you will find yourself automatically in worship. You won’t be able to help it! Here was a God who came KNOWING that he would be rejected, persecuted, and abandoned, but for those who WOULD receive him, he adopted. We could just end it right there. Think about it, after all we have done in our sin, pride, and selfishness, Jesus still came for us! Through His love and amazing grace, He still reached out to us.

Philippians 2:6-11 states:

6 (Jesus) Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, 7 he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to he highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

I can’t help but just be in awe when I read this passage of Scripture. Here you have Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who lives in perfection. He IS perfect righteousness, perfect holiness, and perfect love. Yet, He humbled himself all the way down to our level when He could have just wiped this whole existence clean. This grace goes to the ultimate extreme for our sake.

Jesus came and humbled himself to be born a baby in this very world….. He WILLINGLY humbled himself and lived His life on earth into His thirties. Do you realize that this means Jesus can relate to every experience and every thing we do? He was obedient to the death of the cross and fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law. He went to the grave for three days and then rose victorious, bringing to those who would receive Him… grace.

Why do we worship the Son?

For so many reasons that no amount of text could ever contain…but the sacrificial love He displayed is definitely one core reason!

Challenge: So where do we go from here? Dwell! Dwell! Dwell!!! DWELL on the thought of where you would be had it not been for that grace that was so expensive. What would your life be like had grace never been extended to you? What would your existence be had Jesus never purchased that beautiful grace. Dwell on that wonderful grace today and you too will be singing…

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I am found…was blind, but now I see!”

Hallelujah! All praise to Jesus Christ my savior and my dearest friend! And if you don’t know Him, I hope and pray that you will receive him as your savior today!

God bless you and keep you.
